I’m an artist based in my hometown of Brenham, Texas, where I first developed a love for painting and creating at an early age. I’ve always considered myself a bit of a hobbyist at heart—someone who enjoys exploring and refining different skills through each season of life.
I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied Business and Advertising, all while holding onto my passion for painting. During that time, I continued to grow creatively through side projects and studio art courses. After graduating—and while spending more time at home during the pandemic—I began developing what would become my “abstract botanical” art study. With a new home to decorate and limited options for shopping or gathering inspiration, I turned to the natural beauty around me.
My idea was simple: stems and leaves are inherently beautiful and deserve to be preserved as art. When I’m drawn to the organic shape of a flower, leaf, or stem, I press it into paper or canvas and build layers of color around it. Once the paint dries, I remove the foliage to reveal a composition that feels both intentional and perfectly imperfect.
I release new original work twice each year in Round Top, and occasionally show with galleries in Palm Beach, Birmingham, Dallas, and Sea Island. I also offer a limited selection of prints on my website, allistark.com, and locally at Hermann Furniture in downtown Brenham.
